day 55: Overnight to Lisbon.

We spent the week hoping to set off on our passage to the Canaries. Alas wind forecasts were useless with a huge wind hole opened up right over the top of us. Best offer we could get out of the planning software was a 7 day passage. Yuck. Decided to motor south and go to Lisbon to wait for decent wind and maybe stock up on a few things too.
Since Lisbon is about 100nm south taking into account a couple of important reefs and islands, we decided to travel overnight. Left Nazare at 2pm and motored along the coast hopefully out of lobster pot territory.

We don't like motoring although I did an oil change in Nazare just in case. So far on this trip we have motored for a total of 100 hours so that's the change point.

Spotted a sunfish which gave us a brief moment of terror - there are still reports of Orca attacks.

Now just sitting in the cockpit , kids listening to Artemis Fowl on audible, rain pattering ont he spray hood while Jarvis the tiller pilot takes us South West. Sunset in an hour and then the night watches start. Will no doubt spend the night trying to spot lobster pots on the radar....
