ARC Day 7: 27-11-2021 Secret Weapon testing

Today we finally got some decent downwind sailig conditions so decided to try out our secret weapon. Whilst in Las Palmas we met a chat called Peter Modeller who had sailed around the world in an old wooden motorsailer. He had made use of a parachute configured as a sail to make downwind sailing very easy and smooth. We were quite taken with this idea so we bought one of the smaller parachutes from him. Sadly there was not time to try it out before we left so we have had to do all our setup and testing at sea.
Once we had dealt with the horrible tangling possibilities of the parqchute cords it worked amazingly well. We have been sailing all day and haven't touched anything apart from instructing the tiller pilot to adjust for wind angle occasionally.
I am really hoping that this is going to take us most of the way there.
