ARC day2: skirting africa

22nd November 2021: ARC day 2
Ok not a great sailing day. We have sorted the African coast today under engine looking to intercept a band of wind predicted to show up sometime later tonight.
We have our down wind sails ready in case it shows up.
Today started with Alfie cooking scrambled eggs for breakfast - and lunch. Yum thanks Alfie.
Rose slept late after starting up late on the night watch yesterday. We played cards in the cockpit and the kids watched some videos in the cabin since it is so calm. Sea was like a mirror for a lot off the day but now we have gentle swell.
We all had chilli con carne burritos for dinner followed by chocolate Tiffin. Easy to cook with so little motion on the boat - it's nice if annoying to have the engine noise. Topped upmthe main tank just before sunset with 20L of diesel so if the expected wind fails to show up we can keep on motoring without too much trouble keeping loads in reserve.
We set off with 282L and have now burned 20 of that so have 93% of our fuel re!aiming after using it to leave the harbour and later on yesterday for about 3 hours and motoring 12 hours today.
Just need that wind to show up. If it get up to 20knots we can deploy the secret weapon and really fly.
