day91: 1 day to go

So things are really getting busy here with every boat on the kids pontoon packing and preparing. The ARC guys put all the boats with kids aboard on pontoon'S' so they could play together and its been great. Rose and Alfie have made loads of new friends and generally hanging out on each others boats.

We've played with our dinghy and the kids enjoyed driving it around the marina. Sadly the carburetor is now totally clogged and needs really cleaning before we try to use it again - no time to do that now so will have to leave that job to the Caribbean. They do say this cruising lark is basically boat repair in exotic places and I begin to see why.

The wind for tomorrow looks pretty light and kind of in the wrong direction. We're basically expecting to motor for about 2 days at the start - we bought 6 extra fuel cans and filled them yesterday in preparation. Cloud Jumper uses about 2.5L per hour to run at 5 knots so with our total fuel load at 280L we have about 560Nm of motoring range but we're using the rule of thirds here so will not be allowing the fuel to dip below 90L at this end of the trip - that way we can do a motor sprint for the last 120 or so miles.
