
Day 20, wow. We currently have 1300Nm to go. Waves ha e slightly subsided so we are running on the windvame to save the tiller pilot wear and tear.
The vane seems to be steering if anything better than the pilot. It's spooky but effective. Not sure I would trust it in heavier seas though. Wave height currently about 2m
If this picture I am attaching arrives you can also see that our tiller pilot is currently attached got he tiller by a G clamp. 300 miles out of Cape Verde it's screws started coming out so. Emergency steps have been taken. This is one of my late dads prized G clamps and he would probably be tellig me not to leave it anywhere near the seawater but also happy it was being useful I hope.
138Nm covered yesterday and so far in the whole adventure we have covered 3945 Nm using only 380 L of diesel. Seems like a reasonably small carbon footprint. So far across the Atlantic we have usied only 7.5 L but that could change - there loo ks to be a wind hole coming up in about 5 days time...
