ARC Day 22:12-12-21

ARC Day 22:12-12-21

Half way party time. We have just passed the halfway point between vape Verde and At Lucia. Our nearest land is now Barbados in fact which is 920Nm away but as our destination is St Lucia that leaves us with 1031Nm yet to cover.
So far we have averaged about 136Nm per day so that's a further 8 days from here if the wind holds.
Waves today have been a pain with confused seas throwing 3m waves at us from three different directions. Very annoying as our plans for a halfway pancake blowout were scuppered by the rolling of the boat. Crackers and cheese for lunch again but we did manage chilli buritos for dinner and had chocolate orange cake to celebrate. Cloud Jumper is holding up well so far. Apart from the tiller repair and water pipe incident we are in good shape with nearly full water tanks and still plenty of tins and dry food. Sadly our fruit is nearly gone but if more concern is the fact that we only have two toilet rolls left! Rationing has been imposed. This is because two of our rolls were thrown into the toilet by s particularly big wave earlier. Catastrope.
Although there waves have been tough Cloud Jumper has stood up to the seas well. Our poled out headssil pair of working well sand being able to fuel and unfurl them from the cockpit is great. Hopefully we can continue with them for the majority of the rest of the passage. If the sea state improves we may get out the parachute again and have a go with it to see if the roll is less. It's a pain to handle and can only need launched from the foredeck, but does drive the boat very nicely.
Feels like it's sort of downhill from here although with over a week at sea to go there's loads of potential for rougher conditions and some less comfortable days like today.
Amazingly nobody has been seasick yet, Rose and Alfie have even managed to binge watch on lost in space and star trek in their cabin !
