ARC day 23: squalls and raiinbows
Today dawned with a big lumpy confused sea of 3m high waves and heavy cloud cover. Radar showed squalls all around us so we kept a keen eye out for any heading our way. Fortunately we were not in the direct path of any of them and instead sailed a corridor of rainbows towards the west.
Kerrie cooked a ham and cheese olst for breakfast - our most elaborate breakfast of the passage so far.
Kerrie also noticed that we had acquired some passengers during her watch, a flying fish and a Portuguese man o war jellyfish! Both were safely returned to the sea although in the case d the jellyfish a toilet paper tube had to be used to wind up the stinging tentacles.
We hardly touched hensails all day with our twin Headsails drawing us along at a nice 6 knots most of the time and Jarvis (tiller pilot) steering.
Later once the sea calmed down we put out our fishing line and caught a small horse mackerel. We fille ted and cooked it but it's not the nicest taste. Hoping for tuna next time.
As evening arrived the sea state got a bit mad again just in time to cook. We managed spam fritters and pasta with pesto
We currently have 834Nm to go.
